Founder and producer of the event Tessa
Hartmann said: “The icon list always prompts much debate but it’s a bit
of fun on top of what is otherwise a very serious awards presentation. I
think it’s wonderful to have so many stylish Scots working in the world
of sports, acting, singing and entertainment and we applaud their own
unique identity.
“We are huge fans of Andy Murray who has
literally had a fashion make-over in the last 18 months and given his
win at Wimbledon this year and his excellent sartorial choices, he very
much deserves to be in there.
‘It’s about celebrating the wide
spectrum of stylish Scots we have and there’s an impressive collection
in there; some whose unconventional but strong looks make the grade to
the classic old school glamor from Louise Linton and indeed new entrant
this year, Hollywood actress Julianne Moore (whose mother is Scottish
and has just taken British citizenship). Then there’s the young, edgy
and adventurous fashionista’s who are seen regularly in the weekly
fashion glossies like Nina Nesbitt and now Gemma Cairney.
“We love this category as it’s designed
as a bit of fun to get the public involved. The rest of the judging is a
very serious business and is carried out by our esteemed panel but with
this category everyone can get involved and vote for their favorite and
most stylish fashion icon.”
